Sample Operation 36 Lesson Plan

Teaching Operation 36 Classes are really simple.  This is just 1 of over 100 Pre-Planned Classes that integrate seamlessly with the Operation 36 Curriculum.  The Lesson Plans are available right inside the Op 36 App.  This ensures your staff has a plan to run a weekly class for up to an entire year before your season even starts.

Pre-Game / Greeting Golfers

3:50-4:00

Greet Golfers | Warm-Up Activity

  • One Step at a Time Drill - Give this to the first golfer coming in and ask them to teach the next golfer that comes to class.

Opening - Class Overview

4:00-4:05

Welcome/ Intro / Review Class Plan

  • Word of the Week: Safety 
  • Op 36 Skill: Putting
  • Classes Remaining (Review classes remaining in Semester)
  • App Points Leaderboard - Recognize students who are logging playing/training
  • Celebrate Golfer Milestones - Any Level ups etc.

Training Activity 1

4:05-4:25

  • Cargo - Pirates Variation 1

    • Split class into teams of 2 and stand behind the team cone
    • Introduce narrative - You are pirates trying to collect treasure on various islands
    • How to play (Watch Video)

Operation 36 Education

4:25 - 4:35

Putting- Level 1 (Aim, Roll, & Stop)
Coach Demo

  • Aim - Students line up along the fringe and have to aim face at coach as coach moves
  • Roll & Stop- Speed Control (Stroke length Demo) - putting to varying targets

Students Perform (If there is time)

  • Right, Left Center on an Uphill Putt - Let students practice aiming and hitting putts to the right of a hole, to the left of hole, then straight at hole trying to make the third putt.  

Training Activity 2

4:40 - 4:55

Cargo - Pirates Variation 2

  • Change putting locating
  • Add Game Elements:
    • Furthest away (lose 1 cargo)
    • Closest (chose location of next target)
    • Etc.

Team vs Team Cargo Battle

  • Treasure Hunt - Progression through 3 cones and team has to make final putt

Close - Hands In

4:55-5:00

Hands in - Meet by whiteboard to review:

  • Putters pack in bag
  • Review Skill - Ask students to share what they learned
  • Review Word of Week - Think of an example of good demonstration
  • Handout skill point chips for Word of Week students and Skill

Homework - Remind students
