Cooper Shows What Perseverance Really Looks Like in Golf

Some golfers break through barriers quickly. Others have to earn every single yard. Cooper Jackson from Keith Hills Golf Academy in North Carolina is the kind of golfer who earned it — every step of the way.

Cooper has been in the Operation 36 program since 2021, starting when he was just eight years old. His coach, Matt Roberts, nominated him for the #1inAMillion Award for his outstanding perseverance and unwavering dedication to improvement.

Two Years, 33 Attempts, One Breakthrough

Here's the thing about Level 5, it's where the course starts to feel longer and the margin for error gets thinner. Cooper spent two full years working to pass the Level 5 challenge point. That's 33 attempts before he finally broke through in February with a score of 33.

Most people would have walked away. But Cooper kept showing up. He took two private lessons a month for the past year and a half, then put in even more work on his own time - practice, play, repeat. Relentlessly. Since starting at Level 1, he's dropped 60 strokes off his game and is now working at the Level 6 challenge point as a 14 year old.

"Cooper's perseverance and dedication to improvement are truly outstanding and exemplary. He has supplemented his lessons relentlessly with practice and play on his own time to progress all the way back to Level 6." Coach Matt Roberts

That's the Real Win

Cooper's story isn't just about golf scores. It's about a kid who learned something at eight years old that a lot of people never figure out, that getting better at something hard is worth the effort, even when progress feels invisible.

Congratulations Cooper!
