We are proud to announce our next #1inaMillion Golfer Yoona Kang from Monica Sanders Golf Academy in Concord, California.
Yoona was nominated by her coach, Monica Sanders. She said, “Yoona has a great attitude and is really determined to apply instruction to improve her golfing experience. Yoona is a very well rounded young girl. An excellent student, in addition to golf, she enjoys skiing, roller blading, biking and swimming. When asked what she enjoys about golf Yoona replied " I really like the satisfaction I feel each time the ball goes in the hole."
Take a moment to read this story that Coach Monica shared with us, “It wasn't hard to imagine the disappointment. Yoona was feeling as she walked off the ninth green after failing to achieve the division one target score for the eleventh consecutive time. On her scorecard under areas for improvement she simply wrote, "everything". Some may have given up at that point, but not Yoona. She decided to recommit herself by working harder and smarter. She placed a particular emphasis on putting which was holding her back and spent extra time with Coaches during and after class to improve her tempo utilizing the "one thousand and one" drill. . Two weeks later, after chipping in for birdie on hole nine, Yoona turned in a score of 29 with a personal best 14 putts. Coaches, classmates, and family members were all thrilled for Yoona because of how hard she had worked to achieve this goal."
Sanders continued, "Great story, but it doesn't end there. In the following weeks, Yoona would shoot 32 from division two and 36 from division three. Passing each challenge on her initial attempt. I can't think of a better example of hard work and perseverance paying dividends. We are fortunate and very proud to have Yoona as a student in our program.”
What a story of inspiration for all golfers!!
