This week, we are happy to announce our next nominee for #1inaMillion Golfer - Preston Haines from Kenwood Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Preston was nominated by his Operation 36 Coach Ryne Burnett. He had this to say about Preston:
“Preston had never officially picked up a golf club before the Fall Session last year. In his first Op 36 Challenge on August 31st, 2019, he scored a 62, and had 50 total putts. Preston and his family trusted the process of learning how to effectively score the golf ball over the next year. He learned how to deal with the positives, and deal with the heartbreaks. After a year of amazing effort and on his 9th attempt from 25 yards, Preston scored a 35, and tallied only 21 putts! That is a 27 stroke improvement, including a decrease of 29 putts in his round! Preston, along with all of our students, are proving that hard work pays off, especially after experiencing numerous heartbreaks.”
Burnett continued in regards to Preston’s match, “The entire day was special. Not only was Preston a brand new golfer, but his Dad is too. Trusting the process and enjoying the journey, after 5 holes, Preston was -1. I could tell Dad was excited, but he did a fantastic job helping Preston keep focused on his next shots and staying in a level mindset. While walking off the 9th green, he and his Dad were overwhelmed with excitement, Dad tossed Preston up in the air, like he was a toddler. The entire day was a perfect culmination of Preston's hard work all year.”

The Operation 36 mission is to create 1 million new golfers over the next five years, and they want to help coaches with introducing new golfers to the game and retaining them for the long term.
