Sophie Karsch

Operation 36 Golf | #1inaMillion Golfer

We are proud to announce our next #1inaMillion Golfer Sophie Karsch from River Hills County Club in Lake Wylie, SC.

Sophie was nominated by her coach, Bobby Stroup. He said, “When I first started marketing the program at River Hills, I placed fliers around the clubhouse and posters around the pro shop. One day, Sophie came “bouncing” in, all excited and said, “I want to do this!” Little did I know how committed she would be.”

He continued, “In the last 2 years, she has been enrolled in every session, and rarely misses a class or a 9-hole event. She has played in 35 events, passing from 25 yards on her first attempt, and from 50 yards after 2 more attempts. Then she reached her first challenge point, 100 yards. It took her 13 formal attempts, in addition to 10 or so casual tries, but she hung in there. From 150 yards, it took her 19 formal attempts. Sophie has logged 78 hours of practice time and lost 55 strokes. All of this happened while working a career, raising 2 children, and she is a regular on the tennis courts.Sophie has always been an ambassador for OP36, telling her friends about the program and talking it up in the clubhouse. In addition to that, she is now taking on more of a mentoring role. She is always encouraging those she is with to continue working on improvement.”

Sophie's incredible golf journey is powerful inspiration for women and mothers everywhere. She truly inspires us all. We wish Sophie the best as she competes for the Women's Club Championship this summer!
